Superman Early years
Superman an alien from Krypton landed on the Kent farm in smallville, Kansas. Jonathan and Martha Kent named Superman, Clark Kent. You can read about Superman’s teenage years in a comic book series SuperBoy. SuperBoy first came out in 1949-1950. This is also considered to be in the Golden age comic era. American Treasures is looking for Superboy #10 and Superboy #11. Superboy #10 is the first appearance of Lana Lang. Clark Kent’s first girl he loved. Superboy #11 is the first cover with Lana Lang on it. Superboy is based off of Superman as a teenager.
There is also a TV series that came out in the 90s called Smallville. Tom Welling plays Clark Kent. Kristin Kreuk plays Lana Lang. Michael Rosenbaum plays Lex Luthor. The smallville television series is about Clark Kent as a teenager in high school. This is a great show to watch for any superman fan. Smallville is brilliantly done and features most of the characters in Superman’s world. This show lasted for ten seasons and the 11th season came out in comic book format. I recommend you see it if you haven’t already.
Inkworks came out with some sets in the early seasons but the autograph cards are in question because of how the owner of the company did things. It is in speculation that he forged some of the stuff himself. Cryptozoic came out with a smallville trading card specializes in seasons 7-10 set that includes wardrobe cards, and autograph cards. Kara who is Supergirl played by Laura Vandervoort is the rarest card in the set. If any one has one that wants to sell it we are interested in buying it.
Superman movies
There is a great book out called “Superman vs Hollywood” by Jack Rossen. This book focuses on every superman related to TV shows and movies. It also talks about the troubles of bringing superman to the big screen. This a highly recommended to any superman fan or movie fan.
Superman has been played by George Reeves, Christopher Reeves, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill.
The Christopher Reeves Superman is considered as the best Superman and movie props and authentic autographs command high dollars.
Superman Returns
Brandon Routh played Superman in Superman Returns. The only authentic autographed in the Topps Superman Returns set. This is a very rare card and command high dollars. You will want to watch out for counterfeit cards. This is a sticker card and people have been known to peel stickers and replace them with a different signature. I am not a fan of sticker cards and Topps produces all their autograph sets.
Man of Steel
Henry Cavill the current Superman who played in Man of Steel. All of his movie props and costumes are still being used in upcoming movies.
